The three largest employers in Riley County are all involved in food production. Tyson Fresh Meats, IBP, and Conagra Brands all operate facilities within the county. Tyson and IBP run beef packing plants while Conagra operates a canning facility for fruits and vegetables. Each of these plants provides many jobs for area residents.

Tyson's plant in Holcomb employs over 2,000 people and is one of the largest employers in the county. The company has been operating in Holcomb since 1996 and it is currently the second-largest beef packing plant in the United States.
