Hotels are a major employer in the hospitality industry, and there are many different types of positions available. Front desk clerks check guests in and out, answer phones, and take reservations. Housekeepers clean guest rooms and common areas. Bellhops assist guests with their luggage. Food service workers prepare and serve food to guests. Maintenance workers keep the hotel property in good repair. Event planners coordinate all aspects of events such as weddings, conferences, and parties.

Tourism is also a major part of the hospitality industry in Maricopa County. Tour guides show visitors around attractions such as museums, historical sites, or natural wonders like the Grand Canyon or Sedona's red rock formations. They provide information about the area's history, culture, or geology. Visitors Services Representatives work at tourist information centers. They give directions, make recommendations about things to see and do, book hotel rooms, help with transportation arrangements, etcetera.
