Bus Driver

A bus driver is responsible for safely transporting passengers from one location to another. In Prince George's County, bus drivers may work for the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) or other local transit agencies. Bus drivers must have a commercial driver's license (CDL) and passenger endorsement. They must also complete a training program approved by the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA).

Train Operator

A train operator is responsible for safely transporting passengers on light rail trains or metro trains. In Prince George's County, Train operators may work for WMATA or other local transit agencies. Train operators must have a commercial driver's license (CDL) with passenger and airbrake endorsements and complete a training program approved by the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA).

Dispatcher

A dispatcher is responsible for coordinating the activities of buses, vans, and other vehicles within an assigned area according to schedules and instructions received from superiors. In Prince George's County dispatchers may work for WMATA or other local transit agencies. To be eligible for this position applicants must successfully complete customer service training provided by their employer

Maintenance Worker

Maintenance workers perform various duties to keep buses and vans clean inside and out as well as making sure they are in good working order mechanically speaking. This can include but is not limited to: sweeping, cleaning up after spills, checking oil levels, fueling vehicles, checking tire pressure etc. Some maintenance workers will specialize in either preventative maintenance or corrective repairs while others do both equally. Those that only perform preventative maintenance tasks generally don't require any formal education past high school however those wishing to move into corrective repairs often go on to get certification from trade schools specializing in automotive repair.
