Job Summary
The Sr. Director Enterprise Architecture drives the overall technical and solutions architecture across the enterprise, collaborates across multiple operations and business units influencing and driving the technology modernization and maintenance efforts, turns business strategies into defined technology roadmaps, and governs the enterprise IT architecture program across the company.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Builds and develops an effective Enterprise Architecture team with appropriate skills, and strategy to satisfy current and future business needs
Develops and owns architecture vision, reference architectures, and overall enterprise architectural blueprint aligning with Business and IT goals
Collaborates with business and IT stakeholders to develop short-term and long-term Enterprise Architecture roadmap
Pro-actively engages with business, Information security & compliance, and technology delivery teams across the Office of Technology and Strategy and Office of CIO to identify key business, security & compliance drivers, requirements and capabilities gaps
Coordinates the development of Business Architecture, Data Architecture, Application Architecture, and Technology Architecture
Implements and maintains the Architecture Change management and Architecture Governance process
Leads and coordinates architecture review board meetings
Works closely with Innovation and Operations Improvement and New Markets and Emerging Technologies on the validation and operationalization of new products and enterprise architecture approaches
Provides guidance on technology selection and implementation
Builds rapport, credibility and cohesion across all business, operational and technology teams to achieve strategic goals
Provides strategic communication to business and technology stakeholders
Selects external vendors and third parties by working with technical and business stakeholders including contract management by following corporate vendor selection processes to meet business needs and manage the relationships through implementation
Provides IT architectural oversight for existing large programs (e.g. VA MDE, RHRP) as well as new opportunities to ensure consistency, repeatability and enhanced time-to-market through further configuration-based architecture
Ensures the new enterprise architecture platform can continue to sustain the ongoing company growth across existing programs and is aligned towards the new markets and geographies as outlined in the overall company strategic plan
Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Competencies:
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Comfortable with presenting to leadership.
Proven ability to visualize end-to-end system components across a wide range of technologies and translate into architectural design patterns for implementation
Knowledge in supporting Oracle and Microsoft SQL Database Platforms
Knowledge of document-oriented DB systems (i.e., Mongo
DB, Couch
DB, etc.)
Aptitude and desire to learn new technologies, as required
Strong analytical, problem-solving skills
Outstanding collaboration and communication skills
Proficiency with security compliance for healthcare system and federal guidelines e.g. Fed
Ramp controls
Proficient with SDLC processes
Ability to manage competing priorities and ability to adapt to change
Desire to coach, teach, and build the team’s knowledge base
Ability to lead individuals to meet the changing daily database requirements while meeting the business schedule requirements
Must possess the ability and flexibility to work extra hours and weekends
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college in Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent experience
10+ years of experience in Enterprise Solution Architecture
15 years of relevant leadership experience desired
Certified in a recognized enterprise architecture framework (like TOGAF) with relevant experience in implementing that framework to drive technology efficiency preferred
Experience with cloud-based technologies (AWS, Azure, etc.) strongly preferred
Proven experience developing highly scalable solutions based on microservices architecture
Proven experience as a solution architect and track record in architecting, implementing and maintaining complex enterprise line of business solutions and workflows
Experience in one or more platforms like .
Net, ASP.
Net, C#, Angular, React, SQL Server, and Oracle Database
Experience with ETL tools, data synchronization and replications
Dev
Ops, and CI/CD experience
Containerization and orchestration experience (Docker, Kubernetes)
Experience with Apache Kafka, Rabbit
MQ
Experience in Healthcare industry is a plus
Must be able to successfully pass National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) background investigation
