Michael Foods, Inc. located in Yuma, Arizona nestled between Phoenix and San Diego. Yuma features extraordinary outdoor activities from tubing on the Colorado River to off-roading at the Buttercup Sand Dunes. Our location produces hard boiled eggs for a vast number of both retail and food service customers.

Responsibilities:

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Plant Controller, this position is responsible for a variety of accounting and reporting functions including but not limited to product costing, SOX compliance, inventory control, month-end close processing, and reporting. The Plant Accounting Supervisor acts as a liaison between inventory analysts, plant personnel, plant management, and accounting.

Duties and Responsibilities

Responsible for monitoring inventories to ensure accuracy. Activities include periodic cycle counts, researching and posting variances, and participating in counts when required

Maintain material master, bill of materials, recipes and standard cost estimates for products produced in the facility.

Assist with the completion of the annual operating budget.

Responsible for the execution and accuracy of operational reporting of KPI’s, labor and shrink.

Responsible for assisting in the month-end close and journal entries as assigned.

Assist in the development of new reports as requested to support plant operations.

Adhere to practices that ensure SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) compliance.

Participate as an active member of a Safety Element (SRMP) team.

Complete special projects or other duties as required.

Assume personal responsibility to ensure safe and healthy workplace for everyone. Adhere to all safety policies and procedures and incorporate safety and health in all jobs and tasks.

Adhere to Quality work practices, follow GMP’s, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety and quality.

Ensure regulatory compliance at all times. Qualifications:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting or Finance.

Minimum of three years of related experience.

Licenses, Certificates, Registrations

Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) certification a plus

Other Skills and Abilities

Supervisory experience or demonstrated aptitude for directing the work of others preferred.

Experience in manufacturing and product costing a plus.

Aptitude for effective and efficient utilization of computer technologies including Excel, Access, SAP, BW, Analysis for Excel preferred

Excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively interact with others

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus
