Summary

This position supports the Ryder Continuous Improvement culture across the Business Unit/Vertical by actively promoting and facilitating the use of continuous improvement methods to support new and existing operations. The Director will lead a team of CI Managers/Leads across the business to influence and drive change through data driven CI, Engineering, and Automation efforts to deliver higher levels of performance in safety, quality, delivery, cost and growth.

Effectively leverage data analytics, engineering methodologies, and all Ryder lean tools to enable root cause identification and elimination. This high influence position will interface with employees at all levels and functions across the business. This individual will work directly with his/her Operational peers in the business units to define and set a strategy for engineering efforts and continuous improvement activities.

This position directly reports to the Group or Senior Director of CI with dotted-line reporting to the assigned Groub Director/VP of Operations (Business Unit/Vertical). This individual will work directly with his/her peers and their direct reports in the business units to define and set a strategy for engineering efforts and continuous improvement activities for new and existing operations.

Essential Functions

Directs continuous improvement program and oversees engineering support functions .

Supervise a team of continuous improvement Managers and quality professionals. Make employment decisions (hire, promote, coach, development) and manage performance. Develop CI Engineering bench to strategically support the BU/Vertical long term requirements.

Manages and assigns CI resources for multiple and complex Supply Chain projects aligned with strategic and growth initiatives. Regularly interacts with Senior Management and/or customer(s).

Aligns CI initiatives and project objectives to business strategy and prioritizes projects accordingly; includes key stakeholders in process, as required. Facilitate strategic planning (vertical blueprinting) and tactical process improvement events. Lead cross functional team to identify improvement opportunities and works with leadership to prioritize & plan initiatives.

Present to executive leadership team on status and results of continuous improvement initiatives. Participate in regular business review session with VP of Operations, SCE team and Customers . Provide regular reports of data and actions to measure progress against strategic business objectives.

Provide training, coaching, and mentoring:

must be able to translate all Ryder Business System concepts and strategic objectives to local situations and help all levels of the organization develop understanding and application of tools for sustainable business improvements. Coach business owners to use Engineering, Data Analysis and Lean methods to achieve operational excellence.

Support start-ups, retrofits and expansions including pricing inputs, go-live and steady state certifications.

Work with vertical leaders to establish continuous improvement goals, and act as a liaison with finance to build continuous improvement budgets and validating actual improvement results. Develops, deploys and maintains account plans for assigned process areas designed to continually improve service offerings through the implementation of recognized engineering, quality, lean standards, continuous improvement strategies and demonstrated best practices.

Manage monthly budget review process and financial reconciliation. Interfaces with senior level management to establish standard quality communications and action oriented forums (reviewing /analyzing operational performance, deploy policies and strategies, share best practices)

Serve as the business owner, establish and regulate the standards for Quality Management Systems based on company and/or industry standards. Oversee internal auditing to ensure regulatory compliance and certification. Facilitate regular Performance Reviews with operations leadership and monitor metrics.

Develop/implement strategy to manage scope and meet customer expectations. Support business start-ups, retrofits and expansions including pricing inputs, go-live and steady state certifications. Manage the design, implementation, monitoring and maintenance of the QMS based on established company and/or industry standards.

Implement and monitor a standardized corrective action system. Support regulatory compliance and certification requirements. Oversee all functions related to Quality Assurance for a start-up or expansion

Effective facilitation and execution of Value Stream Maps & Kaizen Events through all stages (A3 charter creation, pre-work identification and completion, delivery of results, regular follow up and follow through on sustainment). Independently identifies process gaps and recommends and leads CI Team to implement process improvement.

Manage, track, and report the progress and value of the transformational activities and projects across customer accounts. Direct the assessment, development, implementation, and continuous improvement activities related to the implementation of lean processes across accounts.

Additional Responsibilities

Manage the design, implementation, monitoring and maintenance of the QMS based on established company and/or industry standards.

Implement and monitor a standardized corrective action system.

Support regulatory compliance and certification requirements.

Oversee all functions related to Quality Assurance for a start-up or expansion.

Oversee internal auditing to ensure regulatory compliance and certification.

Bachelor's degree required Engineering, Business, Supply Chain

Master's degree preferred Supply Chain Management or Industrial Engineering

Ten (10) years or more Fourteen (14) yrs or more in the Distribution, Warehousing and/or Manufacturing, Transportation, Supply Chain Logistics industry required
