We are seeking a motivated, enthusiastic, and creative Post-Doctoral Fellow to join our Immunology Team in the Non-Infectious Diseases Therapeutics Research department located in Athens, GA. This position is part of the global Boehringer Ingelheim Post-Doctoral Program - https://careers.boehringer-ingelheim.com/post-doc/
As a Post-Doctoral Fellow, you will be a primary driver for innovative research initiatives focused on deciphering inflammatory and immune-mediated mechanisms of several disease areas in dogs and cats. This will result in improved understanding of disease pathophysiological mechanisms and the subsequent identification of new innovative Therapeutic solutions to strengthen the Immunology Team’s portfolio.
Strong skills in cellular & molecular immunology, bioinformatics, molecular biology, and multidisciplinary approaches are needed to support the team’s activities. Post-Doctoral Fellows are expected to partner with scientists in the team to conduct research and publish findings in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Take full responsibility for research project(s), with guidance from experienced mentors with extensive background in academia and industry
Provide input to create, organize, and execute a research project in animal health immunology therapeutics
Work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams
Publish results in peer-reviewed scientific journals and present data internally and externally
Comply with all applicable regulations, performing all work in a safe manner and maintaining proper records in accordance with SOP’s and policies
Desired Experience, Skills, and Abilities:
Demonstrated creativity and initiative in driving cutting edge research
The candidate should have a track record confirming proficiency in basic immunological and molecular biological techniques, such as FACS (multicolor staining, PBMC isolation, expansion and in vitro differentiation; BD software; Flow
Jo, Graph
Pad), MACS, ELISA, ELISPot, a
LISA, WB, q
PCR. Experience in in vitro assays of monoclonal antibodies or small molecules as well as knowledge of bioinformatics and metadata analysis methods a plus
Good knowledge of scientific area of responsibility; ability to ask critical scientific questions, synthesize new hypotheses and critique devised hypotheses
Requirements:
Ph
D, DVM-Ph
D or equivalent in Immunology, Molecular or Cellular Biology, or similar fields, with good publication record.
Ability to work independently, design and execute experimental strategy, write protocols, analyze data, troubleshoot, and deliver results in a timely manner to advance projects
Demonstrated creativity and novel approaches to solving scientific problems
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Eligibility Requirements:
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
Must be willingto take a drug test and a post-offer physical (if required)
Must be 18 years of age or older
