Position Summary:
This position will assemble electronic control panels and equipment racks for Securitas Technology correctional security systems. The incumbent will be responsible for building control systems per the specifications and drawings provided by the Project Engineers.
Once the systems are built, the incumbent will perform quality checks. The incumbent may also support engineering and service teams on job sites as required. This position works closely with Project Engineers, Project Engineering Managers and other Internal departments.
Position Responsibilities:
Review engineering design including electrical schematics and spreadsheets prior to starting the project
Complete project under budget and keep project shop supervisor alerted to budget risks
Assist less experienced technicians with projects as needed
Obtain all parts from job shelves to complete project
Identify and communicate to Shop Supervisor of any parts not available to complete project
Mount components in 19-inch racks, Hoffman type enclosures, or custom enclosures
Layout components on back plates per engineering drawings
Drill and tap mounting holes as required
Cut Panduit and Din Rail to fit layout
Wire all components per electrical schematics and schedules documented in Excel spreadsheets
Maintain accurate as-built drawings and schedules
Intercom, video, and custom wiring and assembly
Perform quality checks on the completed system and systems completed by other technicians
Support engineering and/or service team onsite as assigned
Perform other duties as assigned
Position Qualifications:
High School Graduate or Equivalent
Associates Degree preferred2 – 4 years Systems Tech I experience or similar
Previous knowledge of integrated control systems required
Previous electrical or control panel building experience preferred
Must be detail oriented
Experience reading and interpreting electrical drawings and spreadsheets
Experience operating hand tools and power tools safely
Ability to maintain a clean work environment
Ability to work independently
Ability to communicate effectively with shop supervisor, technicians, and other personnel
Ability to meet deadlines and have strong time management and organizational skills
A valid state driver’s license, without restrictions, is required for this position
Ability to lift 60 pounds
