Job Description

Provide direct care by assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care to an assigned group of patients. Plan, direct, and/or educate the patient, family, community, and health professionals.

Reports pertinent observations and reactions regarding patients to the appropriate person (i.e., physicians, head nurse, charge nurse, and/or nursing supervisor) and records those observations accurately and concisely.

Maintains the standards of nursing care and implements the policies and procedures of the hospital and assigned nursing department.

Participates in meetings, in-services, and quality and performance improvement groups

Full understanding of the attendance and punctuality guidelines and adherence to the dress code.

Participate in nursing research.

Provides quality care to patients and works with a multi-disciplinary team to ensure the highest patient satisfaction. May complete unit/department-specific duties as outlined in department documents.

Supervision is received from the clinical supervisor or designee responsible for the shift and by the Department Manager.

Functional supervision is exercised over nursing and support staff.

Required Qualifications

Missouri Board of Nursing RN or Nurse Licensure Compact multi-state RN. When primary state of residency changes, compact state RNs must apply under new state of residency within thirty (30) days.

Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.

One (1) year of acute care and/or operating room RN experience.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met with or without reasonable accommodation. The performance of these physical demands is an essential function of the job. This position is very active and requires ambulating, reaching, and moving objects weighing up to and over 20 lbs.

This role also routinely comes into contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses. This position is in a health care facility open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Rotating shifts as well as holiday and work during inclement weather will be required.
