Our Cheese departments offer hundreds of unique cheeses and other delicious items for our customers. This role is a key product knowledge expert within the department, growing sales by proactively approaching customers to engage and share knowledge about the products we sell.
You will also ensure the department is presenting the best cheeses in the world, perfectly ripened by coordinating daily work activities, prioritizing the timely production of products and providing incredible, knowledge based service.

Work with supervisor to set and achieve goals for development
Comply with Wegmans Policies and Work Rules, as well as, federal and state laws
Maintain open lines of communication with supervisors and coworkers to ensure efficient department operations
Product (What We Do)Serve as a subject matter expert for product and processes; educate team members on product and pairings
Participate in flavor huddles & other celebrations of food to be able to share knowledge about new programs and products with customers
Ensure the freshest products are available; maintain the appropriate product levels, and ensure merchandising is appealing for our customers
Ensure proper handling, cutting, and trimming of cheese to reduce shrink; educate others on when product should be trimmed and rewrapped
Customer (What We Believe)Welcome customers as everyday friends, proactively engage customers in conversations to build relationships and help find the perfect selection to accompany their meal
Utilize selling techniques to share knowledge, offer samples and share a passion for cheese
Consistently grow product knowledge and stay up-to-date on new and featured items
Results (What We Measure)Ensure all tasks in the department are prioritized and completed; ensure use of production guides, job aids and core recipes/techniques
Ensure all food & human safety and simplification best practices are followed
Utilize production and order guides daily to help appropriately control inventory and shrink
