Senior Tax Accountant Sales & Property Tax
Join our client in Louisville Kentucky as a Sr. Tax Accountant
The Tax team is responsible for providing legendary support to our stores by ensuring their sales & use and property tax returns are filed timely & accurately.
The Senior Tax Accountant will participate in all aspects of the sales & use and property tax compliance functions for the United States, including overseeing permitting, reporting, and remittances.
The Senior Tax Accountant will develop tax policies and procedures, perform tax research, and continuously implement internal process improvements.
The Senior Tax Accountant Is Responsible For
Sales and Use Tax Compliance Process – Preparation & review of returns and related payment requests, review of monthly analytic reports and review of quarterly GL account reconciliations. Review use tax calculations and record journal entries. Maintain sales tax files and databases for current year filings and payments.
Administer tax exemption certificate management program. Identify and implement process improvement opportunities.
Property Tax Compliance Process – Review tangible personal property returns and ensure all real & personal property payments are remitted correctly, efficiently, and in a timely manner. Review annual budgets, monthly accruals, adjustments and prepaid liabilities for accuracy and completeness.
Identify and implement process improvement opportunities.
Tax Permits – Obtain and maintain tax permit registrations for all (accounting-supported) store locations.
Tax Rates – Research and identify proper sales tax collection rates for all (accounting-supported) store locations and ensure tax collection changes are updated in a timely manner.
Assisting with sales/use and property tax audits and special projects as needed.
Requirements
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance required
Experience:
Minimum 3 years' experience in Sales/Use or Property Tax with corporate tax experience
Computer Skills:
Advanced Excel experience required, proficient with Outlook and Word.
Experience with Corp
Sales, One
Source Property Tax, Microsoft D365, and Cadency is a plus but not required.
