LOCATION:

Madison, WI

Job Summary:

Perform a variety of physical and mechanical tasks involving inventory control, delivering of cartons to Bindery machines as needed. Use of Technique Inventory/Order Management software, Microsoft 365, and labeling software to create labels for various label printers.

Operation of Kolbus Autobox box making machine, Kolbus Pro-Gluer machine, and Icono-Tech case stenciling machine. Some work requires use of a forklift and powered hand lift trucks.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Create and print a variety of carton labels and stencils.

Basic inventory control to maintain physical inventory of cartons and corrugate sheets including consumptions, movements, and FIFO general inventory practice.

Delivering cartons and labels to the Bindery.

Operation of Kolbus Autobox box maker, Kolbus Pro-Gluer, Icono-Tech case stenciling machine, and various label printers.

Performs bindery general worker duties and/or other duties when needed as assigned by the shift supervisor.

Safety:

Complies with OSHA regulations and company safety policies. Monitors for safety hazards and reports any safety-related concerns to shift supervisor. Must be able to operate forklift and hand lift trucks safely and complete forklift certification/training as required by OSHA.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Must be able to supervise others that are assigned to the department by the shift supervisor.

Shift supervisor regularly checks work.

Basic Qualifications:

Must be able to understand and follow verbal/written instructions.

Must be able to communicate and work effectively with others from various departments within the plant.

Must have excellent time management and organizational skills.

Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Must have good math skills with a moderate understanding of fractions and decimals.

Must be able to read a bindery schedule, bindery job summary, carton labels, and various shipping documents.

Must be able to efficiently use a desktop computer and have a moderate understanding of how to navigate various computer programs for inventory, job summary lookup, label creation, and printer operation.

Must have a basic to moderate understanding of Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Prior experience in operating a forklift and powered hand truck preferred.

Bindery experience desirable but not required.

Must have a good record of attendance.

Must have a high school diploma, GED or equivalent.

Physical Requirements

Work performed is in a factory environment with regular exposure to dust, dirt, noise, and the physical hazards of machinery, plus some exposure to fumes, oils, lubricants, and chemicals.

Walking:

Must be able to walk, as some tasks require walking.

Standing:

Must be able to stand on a concrete floor for varying amounts of time.

Moving/Lifting:

Must be able to move/lift skids, forms, and pallet tops weighing from 15 to 50 lbs. on a frequent basis.

Bending/Stooping:

Must be able to bend from the waist, flexing knees, to perform certain operations.

Reaching:

Must be able to reach in all directions to perform various tasks.

Sitting:

Operation of forklifts requires continuous sitting.

Climbing:

Must be able to climb on and off forklift and step ladder.

Grasping:

Must be able to grasp/hold controls for forklift and machine operation.
