Manufacturing Engineer

Company Overview:

Our client is a 3rd generation manufacturing firm located just south of Milwaukee. They are a full-service machine shop who manufactures high quality industrial components used in paper, nonwovens, steel/metals, wood, food processing, packaging, plastics, and rubber industries.

In addition, they offer machining, grinding, and heat-treating services. Their state-of-the-art facility is home to skilled machinists, engineers, and technical support professionals, many of whom have decades of manufacturing experience.

Position Overview:

Our ideal candidate is an excellent communicator, with strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills and possesses a technical knowledge of manufacturing processes with an emphasis on machining, grinding and heat treating, material identities, and cost estimating.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Analyze/create new/efficient product manufacturing routings (processes/operations), schedule new product review and product close-out meetings and evaluate design changes.

D CAD as needed

Conceptualize, develop, and optimize manufacturing fixtures by applying engineering principles.

Assist inspection team with best practices, identify and acquire tooling, gauges, and inspection equipment, and identify, assess, and implement factory 5

S projects

Develop and improve processes, methods, and use of equipment.

Prepare cost estimates and acquire outside pricing for standard and special products as a basis for pricing quotations.

Originate, develop, compile, and revise data (processes, materials, subcontracts, etc.) for existing and new projects contingent on changing conditions, prices and other factors.

Define, coordinate, and facilitate outside processes, including material acquisition, in close cooperation with the Purchasing department.

Implement engineering changes to routings, drawings, and other documents for existing and/or released production jobs.

Gather and evaluate data, prepare results and reports, and maintain documents and records in ERP system.

Define scope and develop/implement required documentation for manufacturing rework.

Assist with maintaining compliance to ISO9001 standard.

Work on special projects as needed (e.g., cost/quality value analysis, manufacturing and equipment maintenance, upgrade, replacement, installation, designing fixtures, blocking, or other shop projects.

Provide assistance and tutelage to less-senior Manufacturing Engineers.

Continuous improvement, including analysis of engineering designs, procurement procedures, manufacturing methods, time standards, machine utilization, material and outside process requirements, handling methods, tool/fixture design and application.

Requirements and Desired Qualifications:

Successful completion of four-year college degree, or equivalent, with a major in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering with 2-5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, algorithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.

Excellent written and verbal communications skills.

Capable of working with peers and associates from other departments in a proactive and constructive manner.

Ability to handle multiple jobs, simultaneous projects in a fast-paced environment meeting timelines and deadlines.

Ability to prioritize, multitask, and shift priorities as necessary.

Previous experience with 2

D and 3

D CAD software (Inventor, Solid

Works, and/or Pro E/PTC Creo) and ERP software.

Knowledge of MS Office software including Excel, Word, Power

Point.
