Summary:
Primary duties of the Estimator will be reviewing customer supplied drawings, specifications, unit volumes, target pricing, and other project inputs, then translating that information into development and/or manufacturing requirements such as tooling, process steps, equipment, run rates, materials, quality plans, and packaging; and finally, assembling all of the information into a formal quotation package of price and lead time to the customer.

Key Responsibilities
Interrogate the technical input details of a quote request packet including thoroughly reviewing bills of materials, component and assembly drawings, dimensional tolerances, product specifications, and when possible, sample parts to ensure that all information needed from the customer to generate an accurate quotation is on file prior to starting the quotation.
Conduct due-diligence with the technical requirements of a quote request to ensure that the assumptions going into the final quotation are robust, fact-based, and give high probability that the job will have the capability of being manufactured and profitable at the quoted volumes.
Develop a database of technical knowledge such as material vs. tooling shrink factors, process settings, set up times, run rates, inspection times, scrap factors, process capability studies, DOEs, and estimated vs. actual performance that leads to continual demonstrated improvement in quotation accuracy.
Develop detailed work instructions, setup diagrams, troubleshooting guides, and tooling specifications for new jobs to ensure successful first production runs as well as ongoing production runs that meet customer requirements, ship on time, and are profitable.
Working in collaboration with sales, quality, materials, manufacturing, and engineering, ensure that development activities for new jobs are sufficiently defined and quoted to ensure that development costs are covered by the customer.
Requirements
High School diploma.
Post High School education, preferably an engineering or technical degree.
5 years manufacturing experience, 2 years medical manufacturing preferred.
Knowledge of screen printing, die cutting, rotary fabrication or other manufacturing processes that include precision tooling and plastic fabrication.
Proficient PC skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook. CAD experience a plus.
