Job Summary
The Coding Supervisor is responsible to oversee and assist the Coding Specialists team to ensure compliance with processes. Provide training and tools needed to work productively, accurately and within compliance.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities include the following:
Monitor Key Performance Indicators and individual teammate performance and behavior; Supervise, coach, discipline and take necessary action to facilitate achievement of performance targets as well as alignment with company policies
Continually review department processes to determine ways to increase productivity and identify process opportunity trends and recommend ways to improve efficiencies
Interact with internal teammates, corporate customers and/or clients to ensure high levels of responsiveness in order to complete billing
Organize and develop teammate schedules; Review timecards to ensure accuracy
Investigate reports involving communication break-down or lack of cooperation to provide routine, necessary information
Develop and implement standard operating procedures to address areas of opportunities based on identified trends to improve efficiency of the process used in performing tasks; Develop strategies for meeting department objectives
Complete required QA spot checks reviews per week and provide feedback to staff; Collaborate with the QA Department to identify training needs
Collaborate with Management and Training & Development to determine appropriate instructional methods and formulate teaching outline, checklist and manuals
Supervise implementation of new bases/programs/clients to ensure smooth, timely, and effective processing of accounts
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal and state laws, rules, and regulations related to patient account service activities

Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervises employees in the Coding Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees, planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
For Exempt:
Supervisors that carry out these responsibilities for two or more employees will have significant input in hiring and termination decisions.
Qualifications

Education & Experience
BA Degree from four year college or technical school; preferredor equivalent combination of education and experience
7-10 years leadership/supervisory and training experience; preferred
Coding experience; required (10) Years
Advanced knowledge of ICD-10, HCPCS, and CPT coding conventions and guidelines; required
Knowledge of federal and state rules and regulations regarding HIPAA, collections, filing insurance claims, and filing for reimbursement from federal health care programs; required
Knowledge of medical and billing terminology; required
Skills
Excellent written and verbal communications skills
Strong interpersonal skills and a high degree of collaboration at all levels
Excellent organizational skills, detail oriented, ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines
Advanced customer service and phone skills
Strong ability to manage several projects concurrently
Ability to analyze and/or organize complex information with broad direction, identifies trends and collaborate with various levels of management to develop schedules, procedures, and systems
Computer Skills
Advanced with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Power
Point and Outlook
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Certified Ambulance Coder (CAC) or Certified Professional Coder (CPC); required
Certified Ambulance Compliance Officer (CACO); preferred
Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification and Training; preferred
