Job Summary:

As a member of the Maintenance Department, the Maintenance Technician supports all company production machinery, plant equipment, office equipment, and plant structures. Support includes installation, relocation, modification, and preventive and remedial maintenance to ensure efficient plant and machinery operation for a quality product with a minimum downtime.

Schedule is Monday – Friday 9:00 am – 5:00 pm.

Job Duties:

Performs job duties and conducts self in accordance with Sheridan and CJK Group team values in alignment with the Company Vision.

Performs Installation, relocation, modification, and preventative and remedial maintenance of production machinery, minimizing down time.

Performs scheduled preventive maintenance on production machinery, plant equipment and office equipment, including cleaning, lubrication, adjustment, and testing.

Diagnoses mechanical, electrical, and electronic problems and repairs and/or replaces defective components.

Assists in the installation, relocation, and modifications of plant equipment.

Maintains plant support equipment, including pressurized air and vacuum, plumbing, electrical systems, materials handling equipment, and selected office equipment.

Performs miscellaneous preventive maintenance and minor repair to roofs, walls, doors, and other duties as assigned.

Performs woodworking tasks, carpentry, electrical, and plumbing, involving demolition, remodeling, and construction.

Maintains lighting, elevators, dock equipment, partial HVAC systems, and other structural components.

Assists the Lead Maintenance Technician, and serves as backup in their absence, assuming responsibility for work assignments for the department.

Coordinates routine preventative maintenance schedules with department supervisors.

Interacts with OEM personnel to obtain technical information, order replacement parts, and machine installation, as necessary.

Operates a motor vehicle for company transport.

Performs other duties as assigned which could include but not limited to assisting work areas with minor production work.

Basic Qualifications:

Experience in a maintenance position in an industrial environment with an emphasis in electronics.

High mechanical, electrical, and electronic aptitudes.

Experience with pneumatic technology.

Understanding and proficiency in reading schematics, logic diagrams, and proper usage of test equipment in electronic troubleshooting.

Ability to read basic blueprints.

Proven understanding of safety regulations and knowledge of lock out tag out.

Knowledgeable in usage and correct operation of common hand and power tools, ship tools and machines (including drill press, end mill, grinders, and welders).

Proficiency in using precision measuring tools and instruments.

Advanced mechanical knowledge and experience with industrial machinery.

Extensive knowledge in industrial, electrical, and electronics, including digital and analog electronics, methodology of electronic diagnosis, and proficiency in the use of all test equipment.

Candidate must furnish own toolbox and hand tools, both standard and metric (Sheridan furnishes power tools and test instruments).

Must have a valid driver’s license and ability to be insurable on the company policy.

Effective communication skills to interact with co-workers in a cooperative and effective manner to determine symptoms of malfunction.

Ability to read and comprehend written work instructions, write legibly, and have effective communication skills to interact with co-workers throughout the facilities.

Demonstrated self-motivation, reliability, and dependability.

Must possess an eye for detail and a willingness to follow direction.

Must possess a high degree of safety consciousness due to potential exposure hazards from chemicals and lethal voltages.

Ability to adjust schedule as necessary to complete essential tasks.

Willingness and ability to work extended hours and/or weekend work shifts, if necessary.

Ability to think logically, use common sense and retain essential information.

Ability to problem solve and determine root cause for malfunctioning equipment.

Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Desired Qualifications:

Experience with HVAC and/or plumbing.

A working knowledge of various chemicals, tools, and janitorial equipment.

Formal training in electronics.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to exert 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Manual dexterity.

Ability to use a hand jack and motorized stocking machinery.

Ability to climb stairs/ladders, bend, stoop, and push carts.

Ability to reach above head level, lift, and stand on your feet most of the day.

Ability to travel from one building to another when necessary.

Must have tolerance to various cleaning chemicals.

Ability to work in confined spaces.
