Financial Reporting Controls Analyst (Hybrid)

Provides support and builds subject matter expertise in administering the Financial Reporting Control program at American Family and its operating companies. Develops a basic understanding of core insurance company financial reporting processes. Supports annual risk assessment efforts across operating companies.

Prepares control design and operational effectiveness testing. Works with individuals across the enterprise to assess and monitor financial reporting risk. Develops and maintains department control documentation and reporting tools. Seeks opportunities to innovate and implement process improvements.

Compensation Minimum:

$62,600 Annual

Compensation Maximum:

$100,300 Annual

Primary Accountabilities

Assists in performing the enterprise-wide financial reporting risk assessment to support American Family’s Model Audit Rule (MAR) program.

Conducts enterprise-wide financial reporting control design and implementation reviews, including development and maintenance of control effectiveness testing procedures, to ensure controls are adequately designed to mitigate related risks.

Performs enterprise-wide financial reporting control effectiveness testing to ensure controls are operating effectively as designed.

Develops working relationships with business partners and cultivates trust on financial reporting matters. Assists in classification of control deficiencies and supports management with the development of remediation plans.

Develops and maintains organizational awareness through monitoring of enterprise initiatives and potential impact to the related business processes and financial systems, and overall financial reporting control environment.

Assists team with establishment and maintenance of the enterprise-wide financial reporting controls tool and reporting capabilities.

Collaborates to complete team projects and process improvement strategies which support the enterprise-wide financial reporting controls program.

Assists in monitoring team progress and overall status of annual plan and project initiatives.

Travel Requirements

This job requires travel up to 10% of the time.

Specialized Knowledge & Skills Requirements

Demonstrated experience providing customer-driven solutions, support or service.

Moderate knowledge and understanding of GAAP and Statutory accounting principles.

Moderate knowledge and understanding of Model Audit Rule (MAR) or SOX guidance.

Moderate knowledge and understanding of audit standards and practices.

Demonstrated experience in assessing and testing financial reporting controls.

Demonstrated experience using MS Office to create workflow or reporting systems.

Demonstrated delivery of process innovation and continuous improvement solutions.

Candidates with CPA or CIA designations desired, but not necessary.

This position will report to the Senior Manager, Accounting.

This position is a hybrid role that involves working a minimum of 10 days per month in the office.
