Nurse Director Perioperative Services

An excellent opportunity is now available for a Surgical Services Nurse Director in a 400+ bed Southern Arizona Medical Center.

The OR Nurse Director will report to the Chief Nursing Officer, and will be supported by 3 Nurse Managers. The Nurse Director Perioperative Service Line will be responsible for 100 full time nurses, an educator, 2 Clinical Nurse Leaders and various Registered Nurse First Assists.

The Perioperative Service Line Director will be responsible for the Operating Rooms, Endoscopy, PACU, Pre-Admission Testing, SPD and Same Day Surgery. The Nurse Manager Surgical Services will oversee a very busy department with 15 Operating Rooms, and 2 dedicated minor procedure endoscopy rooms.

The Medical Center sees a variety of cases, including:

General Surgery, Orthopedics, OB/GYN, Urology, Plastics, Thoracic, Cardiovascular, Neuro, Podiatry, ENT, Vascular and Ophthalmology.

The Medical center recently upgraded the surgical services department, with the help of the Da Vinci SI HD surgery System, allowing minimally invasive surgery. Overall, they perform over 12,000 inpatient and outpatient surgical procedures. The ideal Surgical Services Nurse Director will have previous management or supervisory experience, in addition to experience as an Operating Room Nurse.

The Perioperative Services Nursing Director will prepare annual budgets, develop spreadsheets, monitor and analyze financial information and implement operational changes to meet budget targets. Though the Medical Center is one of the busiest in the state, the Nurse Manager will be required to assist in growing the service line and creating and maintaining physician relations.
