NICU Clinical Nurse Specialist CNS

The NICU Clinical Nurse Specialist will be the clinical leader for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit program for the hospital. The NICU Neonatal Intensive Care Unit CNS will have the advanced knowledge and skills required for this role including clinical expertise in a focus area, evidence-based practice, mentoring, consultation, collaboration, education, and transformational/change leadership that are essential to advance the practice of nursing and the professional development of nurses.

A qualified candidate must also possess a California CNS certification and have previous NICU experience.

The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit NICU CNS will have specialized knowledge and skills that will be used within three major areas of focus:

patient direct care, nurses and nursing practice, and the organization and systems. The NICU CNS will be accountable for collaborating with members of the health care team to design, implement, and measure safe, cost-effective, evidence-based care strategies.

The CNS will work closely with the NICU Nurse Manager and work alongside very reputable and well-respected physicians in the department. The NICU CNS will report to the VP of Patient Services and Director of Perinatal Services.
